Brenzone
Brentwood is the largest town in the Veneto region with its 50km2
history :
The name "Brentwood" can come from the name of Brenna. They were a Germanic tribe who settled on Monte Baldo, from where they descended to the lake to plunder and to do acts of vandalismo.Dopo them came the Romans, the defense of the northern territory, which was later integrated in the Empire definitavemente . The imposing structure of the Monte Baldo and its steep slopes made for centuries the land routes virtually impossible. The development of residential areas on its slopes, therefore, it certainly was not encouraged. Important remains of the Roman period, however, unearthed over the years indicate the presence of several rural settlements in our territory, though not extended entity. The most prominent example is the discovery, in 2004, of a Roman villa at the Church of San Zeno in Castelletto, so far the only example of "home lake" Garda.I dug on the eastern shores of the first documents that prove their identity to Brenzone from the second half of the twelfth century, a period when, encouraged by the arrival in Italy of Frederick I Barbarossa, began and developed the Comuni.Durante the medieval period, and the entire area Brenzone Lake Garda came under various rulers Stately Verona, Visconti, Carrara up to the Republic of Venice. This period saw the birth of Brentwood and the consolidation of some important land owning families. Stands out among all the family of Brentwood "the Lion", whose emblem was adopted and maintained by local government as a symbol even in more recent times and to this day nostri.La narrowness and harshness of the territory of Brenzone, confined between the bank Lake Garda and the rugged and steep slopes of Monte Baldo, often cut by deep valleys and streams, account for the difficulty in obtaining land communication routes. These, in past centuries, until the first half nineteenth century, were reduced to simple paths and trails, nestled between dry stone walls, which served to connect the various settlements throughout the area. Very intense and important communications were instead produced by water vivid relationships, including family members, between the opposite shores of Lake Garda.Nell 'until the nineteenth and early twentieth century as there is tourism, the economy depended mainly by the activities of Brentwood related to land, including the rearing of silkworms, production casearea and the cultivation of olive trees, in the tradition that has remained to this day. E 'to remember the production of wood and two major products that derive from: coal and lime. For the production of the latter, mainly for "export" were used in the particular form of circular stone buildings, the 'Soccer,' still visible, scattered over our territory. The many huts in the town certainly indicate a prevalence of mountain activities, but other important sources of income for the residents of Brentwood were also fishing and boating on lago.Con completing the construction of the road Gardesana occurred between 1929 and 1930, there was a real "revolution" as regards the economy of Brentwood and the whole lake coast: the advent of tourism, which led, especially after the Second World War, a radical change in terms of all points of view.
